An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Financial Accountant to join this dynamic and thriving agribusiness who are located in the heart of Melbourne CBD. The Role
Reporting to the CFO, this is a hands-on opportunity for an experienced Financial Accountant to play a key role within a collaborative finance team. You will take ownership of financial reporting, month-end processes and maintaining strong financial controls, while partnering closely with both finance and operational stakeholders to provide accurate insights that support strategic business decisions.
This is a varied role suited to someone who enjoys working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where they can make a genuine impact.
Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Own the end-to-end month-end and year-end financial close process
- Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reports and statutory financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards
- Deliver accurate financial reporting and commercial insights to the CFO and senior leadership team
- Maintain balance sheet integrity through reconciliations, strong financial controls and financial data governance
- Manage fixed asset accounting, depreciation schedules, capital expenditure and inventory accounting
- Coordinate the annual external audit, acting as the key liaison with auditors
- Ensure compliance with BAS, GST, FBT, income tax and all relevant statutory requirements
- Drive continuous improvement across finance systems, reporting processes and ERP enhancements
- Partner with stakeholders to support budgeting, forecasting and business performance
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to the finance team while fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture
What do I need to be successful?
- CA or CPA qualified, supported by a tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- Proven accounting experience within a large or complex business
- Strong technical accounting knowledge including financial statements, month-end and statutory reporting, tax compliance including BAS, GST and FBT
- Exposure to ERP systems (Xero is desirable) with advanced Excel skills
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- A proactive, solutions-focused communicator who enjoys building strong stakeholder relationships and contributing to a collaborative team culture
